Kāinga Ora is building new homes across Auckland to better support our growing communities. On this site, you will find information about new public housing being delivered in your area – including where new state homes are going, what stage they are at in the process, and what has already been completed.

As of June 2025, there are 669 applicants on the housing register who qualify for public housing in the Māngere and Ōtāhuhu Local Board area. By building more homes, we can help more whānau into warm, dry, and secure housing.

We are increasing housing supply in a few key ways:

  • Replacing older Kāinga Ora homes and redeveloping the land we already own
  • Working alongside the private sector to deliver a mix of public, affordable, and market homes
  • Purchasing newly built homes from private developers to to add to our public housing assets.

This local board area also includes the Māngere Development – one of our large-scale projects. Led by Kāinga Ora, the Māngere Development will deliver a mix of state and market homes across several neighbourhoods in the area (note: these homes aren’t shown here).
